SSD / Farmer Chambers with Electrometer
Secondary Standard Dosimeter grade instruments used for reference dosimetry
What it does:
High-precision "thimble" ionization chambers (Farmer type) connected to a high-grade electrometer. These are the "Gold Standard" for measuring the absolute output of Radiotherapy machines (Linacs, Cobalt-60 units).
Need:
Used by Medical Physicists for Reference Dosimetry—the process of calibrating the treatment beam itself. The accuracy of patient treatment depends entirely on this instrument.
Radimage’s Calibration Role:
- Regulatory: These must be calibrated at an Accredited Dosimetry Calibration Laboratory (ADCL/SSDL) against a Primary Standard.
- Process: Radimage acts as an SSDL (Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory). We calibrate the user's chamber and electrometer against our Reference Standard in a Cobalt-60 beam, providing the Calibration Factor required for clinical dosimetry protocols (like IAEA TRS-398).
- Traceable to the Highest Global Standard: Our Reference Instruments are Calibrated at PTB, Germany
