Dose Calibrators (Radionuclide Calibrators)
What it does:
A well-type ionization chamber used specifically in Nuclear Medicine to measure the activity (in Curies or Becquerels) of radioactive isotopes (like Tc-99m, I-131, F-18) before administration to patients.
Need:
Critical for patient safety to ensure the exact prescribed therapeutic or diagnostic dose is administered. An incorrect dose could lead to ineffective treatment or radiation toxicity.
Radimage’s Calibration Role:
- Regulatory: Required for establishing quality assurance in Nuclear Medicine departments.
- Process: Radimage performs linearity tests, geometry independence tests, and accuracy checks using reference standard sources (like Co-57, Cs-137, or Ba-133) traceable to international standards.
